My daughter attended Crossing Borders for one school year (2019-2020). From the first day, she had no issues or reluctance entering the classrooms. We were warmly welcomed and the administration, which to us is extremely important, was very professional and strongly grounded in their mission. We were also always pleased with the school’s communication to parents.
My daughter was enrolled in Spanish and Mandarin and had great, loving, and caring teachers. Her Spanish class had one teacher turnover but both Spanish teachers were amazing and had degrees in teaching. Her Mandarin teacher was also so great and also had a degree in teaching. For us as parents, it was very important that the teachers were certified and attained degrees in education, which her teachers did. We were also so grateful for little to no teacher turn over as that was common in the previous two schools our daughter was a part of.
As we transitioned to virtual learning earlier this year, we were worried, like most parents, on the future of our daughter’s language immersion education. I can say that Crossing Borders did not slack and figured out how to continue the teachings via Zoom. We had easy access to the administration if we had questions and they supported our journey all throughout.
Our daughter got admission to HISD’s School Choice Program so she will be starting on September 8th online, however we will miss our time with Crossing Borders and wish them all the best as they continue to teach a variety of languages to the future leaders of our Houston community! Thank you!
